Sure, it's only January and some of us still have Christmas trees up, but it's never too early to start thinking about prom. In fact, we've been thinking about it (and dying to talk about it) since last fall when we saw the Spring 2013 runway shows. Here are a few of the trends that we not only loved, but instantly knew would be a hit for prom 2013! --Angel
Prints
Spring is all about prints--from pretty florals and paisleys to playful stripes and polka dots and beyond. For prom, try a printed frock in a super feminine silhouette for a special occasion look with an updated twist.
Neon
It's quite unexpected, yet insanely cool. Neon colors are bold and edgy in a way that isn't typical for prom, but somehow works. Choose all black accessories (we're thinking booties and perhaps even a belt) for a look that's cool and modern and totally memorable.
Ballerina
We fell in love with the soft, feminine, ballerina-inspired looks designers such as Christian Siriano and Elie Saab sent down the runway. Think delicate lace and tulle in soft, pale colors like pink, seafoam, and even gray. A tea-length skirt gives the look of a modern tutu!
Jewel Tones
From the Indian influence at Marchesa to FIDM Alumna Monique Lhuillier's 'under the sea' interpretation, rich, gorgeous color flooded the Spring 2013 runways. For a prom look that'll surely turn heads, try rich purples and turquoises, luscious berry hues, and sunny yellows and oranges.
