There is nothing we don't love about Olivia Wilde's look for the Help Wanted short film at the Tribeca Film Festival: the lacy details of her Prada cocktail dress, the bold yellow bodice, and of course, the pop of punchy orange her heels lend. We also love that she let the dress and shoes take center stage, keeping her hair simple and makeup clean, with a barely-there, nude lip and wingtip eyeliner.
We quite like fancy pants, and we really like Lily Collins. So when the Mirror, Mirror starlet stepped out to celebrate Cartier recently donning, not a chic LBD or slinky gown, but a pair of high-waisted Paule Ka trousers and a slim Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo jacket we were pleasantly surprised. More than pleasantly surprised, in fact, we loved it. The pointed-toe shoes and sleek chignon were great choices (loose hair with this look would have been a no-no), but it was the finishing touches that positively sent us: pops of red courtesy of a Cartier minaudiere and her perfect pout. Even with its laid back look, a beachy wavy hairstyle is somehow a wonderful complement to formal looks, as Kate Hudson knows. Spritz hair with a texturizing spray, braid your hair, then allow it to air dry. When you unbraid your tresses, you'll have a head full of soft, beachy waves.
ADORNED
Score Paula Patton's look by simply adding a stunning, sparkling barrette to loose locks. Wear your hair straight, or go for flirty curls, and apply a shine serum. Part your hair to one side and pull back one side to just behind your ear, securing with pins. Top with a sensational barrette.
GLAMOROUS
Anne Hathaways' shiny, Old Hollywood-inspired waves are insanely glamorous and surprisingly easy to achieve. Part dried hair to one side, then use a large-barrel curling iron to create oversized curls. Use a paddle brush or your fingers to comb out the curls, creating lush, Veronica Lake waves. Apply a shine serum to tame flyaways.
We don't know if Jennifer Lopez has ever been photographed looking less than completely put together, and if she has, we've certainly never seen the images, so it's not at all surprising that she looked so good on the American Idol stage recently. What was unexpected (and genius) was how she wore her separates. The singer/fashion designer/actress rocked a metallic Lanvin maxiskirt, then kept the rest of her look simple, pairing it with a sleeveless blouse and neutral sandals. Her dramatic jewelry choices (multiple chains, enormous bangle, and giant cocktail ring) were a perfect match for her soft, beachy waves and natural-looking makeup. The mix of ultra-glam and understated pieces was flawless, and we love the look! --Angel
