Red Carpet Inspiration: 2011 Met Gala Pt. I

Considered the biggest night in fashion (it's actually dubbed the Oscars of fashion), The Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala was held last night. Designers and Hollywood A-listers showed up in their best clothes to celebrate the opening of the latest style exhibit, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. Country crooner Taylor Swift, who came Gilles Mendel, wore one of the designer's gowns.

Designer Donna Karan created a one-of-a-kind blush tulle gown with sequined embroidery for Twilight actress Ashley Greene.

Thandie Newton added edge to her lace trimmed Stella McCartney halter with heavily-lined eyes.

Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker honored Alexander McQueen in a crystal embellished design from his Fall 2005 collection.

People's Most Beautiful Woman in the World, Jennifer Lopez chose a scarlet Gucci gown and accessories.

Nicole Richie channeled Old Hollywood in a vintage white gown and jewelry from her own House of Harlow 1960 line.

Ashley Olsen donned a dramatic vintage Dior with billowing sleeves and an up-to-there slit.

Blake Lively showed up with Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld wearing a couture dress from the design house.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart wore an embroidered Proenza Schouler silk dress.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow glittered from head to toe in Stella McCartney.

Model Gisele Bundchen celebrated the evening in a fin tail gown by Alexander McQueen.

Miranda Kerr looked sweet in a ballerina design by Marchesa.

Salma Hayek chose a couture blush-tone organza dress by the late Alexander McQueen.

Penelope Cruz was stunning in a tiered silk organza, chiffon, and tulle Oscar de la Renta gown.

Zoe Saldana celebrated in a pale yellow column dress from Calvin Klein Collection.

Liv Tyler showed up in a Givenchy gown (she's the face of the label) with quilted appliques and an ostrich feather hem.

Diane Kruger was the picture of elegance in a black skirt and chantilly lace top from Jason Wu.

Beyonce Knowles was fitted in a custom black mermaid design by Emilio Pucci.

Usually, Quicksilver/Roxy makes me think back to 6th grade when all the cool kids were sporting it... but this collection? I just want to snuggle up in those sweaters with a mug of coffee in front of a fire... at least once it's not in the 90's anymore!
