Red Carpet Inspiration: 2010 Emmy Awards

Small screen stars were celebrated at last night's 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, and while we're truly happy for everyone who was lauded for their acting skills, we really love this show for the magnificent red carpet looks. --Angel

The Closer star (and Emmy winner) Kyra Sedgwick was polished and elegant in an aubergine evening gown by FIDM Alum Monique Lhuillier.

Glee actress and first-time nominee Lea Michelle was stunning in a navy Oscar de la Renta gown.

Actress Claire Danes, who won for her role in Temple Grandin, chose a dazzling Giorgio Armani Prive gown dripping in Swarovski crystals.

Project Runway host Heidi Klum went for a short, black Marchesa dress bedecked with rose embroidered sculpted bands.

Damages actress Rose Byrne was gorgeous in a white Gucci dress with shiny metallic straps.

Jayma Mays of Glee looked lovely in a trailing navy Burberry Prorsum evening gown.

True Blood actess Rutina Wesley chose a white and grey painterly gown (designer unknown).

Emily Deschanel of Bones was ravishing in a bold, purple column dress with pleated ruffles by Max Azria Atelier.

Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev wore a beautiful, shimmery blush colored creation from Zuhair Murad.

Coincidentally, Gary Kueber's Endangered Durham blog is today running a massive post the preservationist has been working on for two years detailing the history of Duke's East Campus -- and with it, the story of Trinity College's relocation to Durham in the 1890s.

It's interesting to imagine that at two different inflection points, one of the world's elite universities could have ended up elsewhere.

In the early 1890s, Kueber notes, Trinity College seemed likely to move from Randolph County to Raleigh, at what's today the home of NC State -- unasfdtil Durham industrialists intervened and outbid the City of Oaks to bring Durham here.
