Dear Fashion Girl,
I have a dilemma. I bought a really pretty dress for Prom at Marciano. It's sort of a loud dress, like there's a lot going on. Could you help me figure out which accessories to add to it?

Dear A,
I'm sure your dress is sensational (I was in Marciano recently and I literally gasped at the gorgeousness of some of the Prom styles they had!) and it'll actually be quite easy to put together a complete Prom look.
When accessorizing a dress with lots of color or a really busy print remember to keep the accessories simple - you bought the dress because it caught your eye so don't detract from that. Avoid adding any other print or pattern to your look.
If there is any hint of metallic in the dress, stick with accessories that match (i.e. if there is a bit of gold in the pattern, buy gold accessories, and do the same for silver). You may also pick out a
color in the print that you want to highlight and buy simple but fabulous accessories in that color.
Hoop earrings are a perfect match for a dress that's got a lot going on because they don't detract form the overall look. You can pick plain gold or silver styles, like the 3" Flat Hoop
from GirlProps.com, $8, (left) or a pair with just a touch of sparkle, like the Large Hoops with Rhinestone Bottom from Windsor, $6 (above).
If you're not fond of hoops, try a pair that's elegant and simple, like the Windsor Double Row Rhinestone Earrings, $8.50 (left). And if you want to make your look even bolder, wear a pair of colored feather earrings. I spotted these Feather Earrings, $4, (above) at Forever 21. They work with a bold pattern because they are solid and won't clash with your look.
Skip a necklace if the dress is halter, otherwise add something sweet and
simple like this Tiered Snake Chain Necklace, $24, (left) from Urban
Outfitters or this Rhinestone Heart Necklace, $8, (right) from Mandee.
If you opt to wear additional jewelry, like a ring or bracelet, remember to keep it just as simple as the rest of your jewelry.
The final touches are gorgeous shoes and a handbag. These can be as
bold or as simple as you choose, just as long as they
are a solid color (you don't want to show up to the dance with three different patterns going on!). This Nine West 'Tenara' Sandal, $79 (left) is ultra-glam, or you can
choose something a little simpler, like this Chinese Laundry 'Willy' Sandal, $59, (right). And I love the clutch styles available at Windsor - especially the Black Satin Clutch with Large Bow, $33, and the Shiny Gold Clutch, $23.
Have an amazing Prom! --Angel
